Gooseberry chutney

This chutney is made with raw or amla put in salt water for 10-15 days or steamed or sauted with coconut and chilli.  Here I am presenting the chutney with the amla put in salt water for 10-15 days.

Ingredients:

2-3 amla
3 tbsp grated coconut
2 green chilli (adjust according to your spice level)
1/4 cup beaten curd.
salt as required.

Seasoning:

1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
2-3 broken red chilli pieces
few curry leaves
a pinch of asafoetida

Method:

Cut the amala and remove the seeds.

put them in the mixer along with coconut and green chilli and grind to a fine paste.
add the curd and pulse it for few seconds. adjust salt.
Add the seasoning and serve with dosa, idli, dal rice or plain rice.

Variation:  You can make it without coconut too.  You can also use fried red chilli instead of green chilli.
