WATER MELON KHEER

Water melon kheer or payasam is made with the white portion of water melon.  We can prepare subzi also with the white portion of the water melon.  It is quite tasty whether it is subzi or kheer or halva.  I have made pachadi, dosa, halva etc and already posted.

It is a simple preparation and delicious when served cold.







Let us look at the recipe now:



Ingredients: 

I cup grated water melon (white portion of the water melon)
2 tbls milk powder or milk made (optional)
2 cups milk
½ cup sugar

 
1 tbls ghee
Few strands of saffron soaked in hot milk
Cardamom powder
Dry fruits for garnishing


Method:

In a kadai, put ghee, when it becomes hot, add the grated water melon and sauté for few minutes.  Add the sugar, milk and cook the water melon. When it becomes soft, add the milk powder mixed in little water/milk and bring to boil, add the cardamom powder  and switch off the gas. 

Garnish with dry fruits.  Serve chilled.
