Javarisi ladoo or modak, since so many days, i was thinking of making this but could not make it. Recently was busy with Ganesh Festival and modak preparations, this item just slipped out of mind. Today, when i saw the packet of sabudana, thought of trying this recipe.
Whenever i make a new item, i always make in small quantity. So tried with half cup of sabudana and tell you it was a successful dish for my blog. Sharing with you, have a look at the recipe.
Ingredients:
sabudana (tapioca pearls, javarisi) - 1/2 cup
sugar - 1/4 cup
cardamom 3-4
finely chopped dry fruits (optional)
dessicated coconut - 2 tbsp (optional)
melted ghee - 1/4 cup.
Method:
Dry roast the sabudana in a kadai for about 15 minutes.
cool them and grind to a fine powder and keep aside.
in the same mixer container, put the sugar, cardamom and powder it.
add the sabudana powder and pulse it for one minute and transfer it in a bowl.
add ghee little by little and mix with the powder.
take some powder and press it in your palm and see whether it is binding or not.
If it is binding, then do not add ghee further. if it is not binding, add some more ghee and make ladoos.
I added the ghee teaspoon by teaspoon till it reached the right consistency.
If you put the same in the modak mould, you can make modak out of it.
the above quantity makes 6 ladoos.
