BESAN MODAK (BENGAL GRAM MODAK)

Last year during ganesh festival, we made lots of varieties of modak which were published in Times of India.  Some of the recipes  I  am posting one by one out of it.

Here is Besan Modak or bengal gram modak.   It is made out of besan with pure ghee and powdered sugar.


Ingredients:

2 cups besan
2 cups pure ghee
11/2 cup powdered sugar
4-5 tbsp each chopped almond and cashewnut
1 tsp elaichi powder

Method:

Heat ghee in a pan and roast the besan on very low heat until it turns golden brown by continuous stirring.  Transfer it into another bowl and keep aside to cool completely.
Add sugar, cashewnut, almond, elaichi powder and mix wella nd shape into beautiful modaks using the modak mould.  It can bemade as ladoos also.
