DADPE POHE (beaten rice, poha, aval)

This dish is the speciality of Maharashtra.  My colleague used to bring this in the office and I  used to grab the tiffin box of hers  as I love to eat this.

Dadpe pohe is made with thin poha (beaten rice). In this no cooking is involved only mixing up of all the ingredients and serve garnished with nylon sev and roasted papad.  Since we are mixing onion, cucumber, carrots, peanuts, coriander leaves etc. it is a  healthy breakfast for everyone.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Preparation time: 30 minutes
serves: 4-5

Ingredients:

6 cups thin poha (aval), beaten rice)
2 finely chopped onions
1 tomato finely chopped
1 medium size cucumber grated
1 medium size carrot grated
2-3 green chillies
½ cup chopped coriander leaves
Salt, sugar as per taste
Lime juice as per requirement
1 bowl roasted ground  nut
4 tsp oil
½ cup grated coconut
1 tsp mustard seed

Method:

1.    Heat oil in a kadai, splutter the mustard seeds
2      switch off gas and transfer it in a mixing bowl (large)
3      Mix the carrot, onion,  cucumber, salt, sugar, green chilli, lime juice, half of roasted ground nut, half of coriander leaves tomato, coconut  and keep it for about 15-20 minutes.
4.  Now mix the poha in it and mix well.
5.   Keep on mixing the same till  the poha is  well blended with all the ingredients.
