MANGO KATLI, MANGO PAK

Mango is a delicious fruit and we had the same in our backyard abundantly.  During mango season, all the dishes at home will be mango based.

My children loves to eat mango.  They also like mango milk shake.  During the season, I used to make mango pulp and keep it in fridge.  Whenever they feel like drinking mango milk shake, they used to mix the pulp and milk and enjoy.

I tried the combination of mango pulp, milk and dry fruits to make this sweet dish and came out well and enjoyed by everyone.   This mango katli is a delicious sweet dish one can enjoy it during the season.




Let us look at the recipe now:


Preparation time: 15 minutes
cooking time: 11/2 hr to 2 hours.
yield : 25 small pieces.

Ingredients:

1 cup mango pulp
1 ltr milk (i used amul low fat milk)
1 tbs corn flour
1/2 cup sugar
2tbsp ghee  + tsp ghee for greasing the plate.
pistachios for garnishing.


Method;

1.  In a kadai put the mango pulp and cook the same till it is reduced to half.  It took about 10 minutes.
2.  Mix the corn flour with little milk.
3.  In another kadai, add the milk and sugar, corn flour  mix  and reduce it to make a rabdi. It took near an hour to reduce the same on low flame.
4.  At this stage transfer the rabdi to the mango pulp kadai.
5.  keep on stirring it to avoid the same burning from the bottom till it starts leaving the kadai.
6.  Add  the ghee and mix well.
7.  Transfer the same to a greased plate.  allow to cool.
8.  Garnish with pistachios and cut into desired shape.
9.  The mango katli is ready to serve.

variation:  you can add chopped dry fruits in it.  .  also can shape it as pedas or mango shaped katli.
