MIX VEGETABLES CURRY WITH DAL

Bachelors are finding it very difficult when they settle down in some other parts of the world, once they leave home.  Some are smart enough to manage and some are not.  Food is a major issue for them.

The world has advanced to such an extent,  everything is a click away.  You get any information you want through internet. There are various sites and blogs to help you out to cook easily within a short span of time.

Hence I have decided to plan shoot videos, cook some easy dishes for them and upload on blog as well as on YouTube.  I hope they will definitely take advantage of these kind of blogs and YouTube and solve their problems and issues related with food.

mix veg curry with moongdal

Here I am presenting an easy curry  i.e. mixed vegetables with moongdal.  You can consume as much as vegetables as well as dal also goes into your diet.

This can be prepared very easily and will suffice for 3-4 people.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup moong dal
1/2 drumstick cut into 1 or 2 inch pcs (optional)
a smal carrot or half of big carrot
5-6 french beans
1 small potato
4-5 florets of cauliflower
1 small onion
1 tsp sambar powder (add if you want more spicy)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp oil
handful of green peas
1 tomato
1/2 tsp cumin seeds

Seasoning:

1 tsp oil or ghee
1 tsp mustard seeds
few curry leaves
a pinch of asafoetida

Garnishing

Chopped coriander leaves.

Method:

wash and soak the moongdal for 15 minutes.  In the meantime, you can wash and cut the vegetables into small cubes except the drumstick.  Keep the onion and tomato separately.  In a  cooker heat oil.
add the cumin seeds, when it crackles, add the onion and saute for a minute.  now add the tomato and saute for another minute.  now add all other vegetables and saute for another minute.  add the soaked moongdal. water you can put 2 cups. add turmeric powder, sambar powder,  salt and allow to boil.  when it starts boiling, cover with the cooker lid and put the whistle.  cook for one whistle and switch off gas.  allow to cool down.

when the pressure comes down, open and season with the items mentioned above and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with rice, roti.

Note:  If you want the curry watery, add hot water in it and adjust salt.  The curry  tend to become thick when it cools down.

You can use masoor dal also as it gets cooked very fast.  If you are adding masoor dal, you can directly cook the same in kadai.

This will be sufficient for 3-4  people.
