FRUIT CUSTARD

Summer has started and everyone will be interested in drinking something cold, eating some desserts chilled.  I have already posted the tender coconut falooda, tender coconut payasam,  as a summer cooler.  Here is the favourite fruit custard of my children especially my son.

It is basically made with  milk and cut fruits are added to it to make it.  It is a healthy dessert after dinner or lunch.  one bowl ful is sufficient enough to fill your stomach if you do not wish to eat any other thing.

Fruit custard

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

1/2 ltr milk
1 tsp to 2 tsp custard powder (depending upon the thickness of the custard you can add, if you want it in a running condition, add only 1 tsp, slightly thicker - 1 1/2 tsp or little more thicker - 2 tsp this will be too thick)
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup cut fruits (apple, chikoo, banana, grapes, musk melon, water melon, orange, pears, kiwi etc)  ( I used one Pear, one kiwi, one orange, 1/4 cup grapes, 4-5 pcs of musk melon/water melon)
3-4 tbsp cold milk
4-5 tsp sugar (if you want more, add)

Method:

Heat a kadai with little water.  add the milk in it and bring to boil.  add the sugar and again boil the milk for 2-3 minutes.  Mix the custard powder in the cold milk.  add this to the boiling milk and keep on stirring continuously otherwise lumps will form.  when the milk starts thickening slightly, switch off gas.  allow this to cool.  add in the cut fruits in it. chilll and serve.

Note:  If you want to add dry fruits, you can chop them add or garnish with it.  I scooped out water melon and musk melon pieces for garnishing.

Normally subja/basil leaves seeds are not put in this.  But my personal choice, added to it.

enjoy this dessert and do give me the feed back.  You can watch on Youtube:  fruit custard part 1    fruit custard part 2
