BANANA FLOWER VADA

Banana flower or banana blossom or khel phool or vazhapoo it is known as is useful to make various dishes.  One of the dish is the vada which is made for the evening snacks.

Since so many days, I am planning to make this but got the chance only to make it today.  With one flower, I made vada, sambar and raita today.

Let us look at the recipe now:

1/2 cup banana flower chopped (how to clean, chop the banana flower watch the Youtube:
3 tbsp chana dal
1 tbsp urid dal
1 tsp saunf
1 onion finely chopped (i did not use it)
1 tsp rice flour
1 or 2 green chilli or combination of one green and one red chilli
a pinch of asafoetida
few curry leaves
salt
oil for deep frying


Method:

Soak the chana dal and urid dal for 2-3 hours.
drain and keep aside.
chop the onion, curry leaves and keep aside
grind the green chilli, saunf, chana and urid dal
add the banana flower and crush them coarsely.
add salt, rice flour, chopped onion  and mix well.
divide into equal portions,.
make ball out of it, flatten the same in your palm and slide them in the hot oil and deep fry till both the sides are cooked. while frying, keep the heat in medium flame.
serve hot with chutney, sauce etc.
