JEERA RICE

Jeera rice, cumin seed rice is favourite of my daughter.  She loves to eat with tomato, cucumber raita.  whenever we go to a new hotel, she always order hara bara kabab as starter, Jeera rice and raita.

Let us look at the recipe now.

Ingredients:

1 cup basmati  rice
2 cups water
1 tbsp shahi jeera
1 badi elaichi (black cardamom)
1 star anise
2 cloves
2 tbsp ghee + 1 tbsp oil
a pinch of dalchini powder (optional,  my personal choice)
salt

Method:

Wash and soak the rice for half an hour.





 after half an hour drain and keep aside.



In a kadai, heat the oil and ghee



add the shahi jeera, star anise, black cardamom, clove.
when the jeera splutters, add the rice and saute the same till it becomes glossy.
add two cups of water, salt, dalchini powder and bring to boil
reduce the flame, cover and cook till it is done.
immediately fluff it and remove it to another vessel.
serve hot with tomato raita, dahiwale tomato,  papad, pickle.
