CORNMEAL DOSA

corn meal dosa is very easy to prepare.  I adapted this recipe from www.simpleindianrecipes.com but slightly modified it and there is difference between my recipe and the original one.  It can be prepared quickly and serve hot with any kind of chutney.  I served it with green chutney and sauce and it was awesome.  Thanks to Dahlia for this wonderful recipe.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients

1/2  cups - Cornmeal flour

2 tbsp rice flour
1 onion chopped
1 green chilli chopped
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
salt
a pinch of hing powder
oil
water as required.
1/2 tsp cumin seeds

seasoning:

1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urid dal
1 tsp chana dal

Method

Mix the corn meal flour, rice flour, salt, hing powder, cumin seeds and keep aside.
Heat oil 1 tsp oil in pan.  add the mustard seeds, urid dal, chana dal.
when it is done, add this to the cornmeal mix.  Now add water slowly and make the batter.
add the grated carrots, onion, chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

Heat a non stick tava, sprinkle little oil and wipe it with a piece of onion or potato.  This is done to prevent the dosa sticking on the tava.
when the tava is hot, pour one laddleful of batter on the tava.

do not spread it with the laddle. it spreads on its own. when the top side becomes dry and sides starts browning, slowly flip it.  If it is not cooked, it will be difficult to flip the same.  Cook both the sides till brown spots appear on it.  serve hot with any kind of chutney.

I made it immediately after preparing the batter as I had made it for breakfast.
