Kala watana subzi or curry is made like we make normally make the black chana curry, chole etc. It is a good side dish for roti, chapati served along with sliced onion,pickle etc. Sometimes, I mix up all kinds of masalas and its taste is awesome. In this case, i have mixed up the masalas like pav bhaji and garam masala.
Let us have a look at the recipe now:
Ingredients:
150 gms Kala
watana (black watana)
1 big onion )
1 big tomato
) or
3 tbsp tomato paste
¼ tsp chilli
powder
1 tsp pav
bhaji masala
¼ tsp garam
masala
1 tsp dhania
powder
½ tsp ginger
garlic paste
Turmeric
powder
1 tsp cumin
seeds
1 tsp oil
Salt
Garnishing:
Chopped
coriander leaves.
Sliced onion
(optional)
Method:
Wash and
soak the watana overnight.
Pressure
cook the same with salt and turmeric for
5 whistle.
Chop the onion
and tomato and keep aside.
Heat oil in
kadai, splutter the cumin seeds
Add the
chopped onion and ginger garlic paste
Sauté the
same till the onions are soft.
Add the
chopped tomato and cook till the tomatoes becomes mushy
( If you are
using onion and tomato then no need to add the tomato paste)
Add the masalas and stir well.
Add the
cooked watana, add a cup of water
Cook the
same for 5-10 minutes till the masalas are incorporated well into the watana.
Garnish with
chopped coriander and serve hot with chapatti.
