CABBAGE KOOTU

Cabbage kootu is prepared and served along with rice and chappati.  You can serve this dish as main as well as side because if it is prepared in semi solid form, you can serve and bit watery also you can serve with rice.

It is very tasty and easy to prepare.  




Let us look at the recipe now:




Ingredients:

Cabbage kootu is prepared and served along with chapathi, rice.  It is a typical south indian dish.  You can use this as side dish as well as main dish because it goes well with rice if it is little watery.

Ingredients:

Cabbage chopped 1 cup
Chana dal - 1 tsp
Red chilli - 1
Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
Black Pepper - 5-6 (optional)
Less than 1/4 cup moongdal roasted.

Coconut grated - 3 tbsp
1 tsp oil

Tempering:

1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urid dal
curry leaves.



Method:



Step 1


Dry roast the moong dal in kadai, wash and soak for 15 minutes.  Heat oil in kadai.  Roast the chana dal, black pepper, red chilli.


Step 2


Chop the cabbage. 


Step 3

Cook the moongdal with 1 cup of water till 3/4 is cooked.  Add the cabbage, salt, turmeric powder and cook cabbage is soft.

Step 4

Grind the chana dal, coconut cumin seeds, red chilli, black pepper to a smooth paste and add to the cooked cabbage. bring to boil.

Step 5

Prepare tadka and add to the kootu.

How to serve:

Serve Hot with rice, chapati
