TOMATO RASAM, INSTANT TOMATO RASAM

Rasam can be made using various methods.  Here I am presenting a simple rasam without any dal and tamarind.  This goes well with plain rice, vada etc.  You can also serve this as an appetizer.  watch youtube: tomato rasam





Now let us look at the recipe now:



Ingredients:

2 fully ripe tomatoes finely chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric power
1 tsp rasam powder
salt

Tempering

1 tsp ghee
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
few curry leaves
a pinch of asafoetida

Garnishing:

1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.


Method:

Boil one cup water.  when it starts boiling, add the tomato pieces and cook.
take out half the tomato pieces from it, cool.  grind this to a smooth paste and put back into the cooked tomato.  add rasam powder, salt, turmeric powder and bring to boil.  add water according to the requirement and adjust salt.  Temper with the ingredients mentioned above.  garnish with coriander leaves.
serve hot  with rice, vada etc.
