CLUSTER BEANS WATLI DAL

I have already posted watli dali recipe in my blog.  Watli dal is basically prepared with chana dal, bengal gram, kadala paruppu.  I  had olnly 50 gms of cluster beans with me ( no one eats at home) only I eat, I was thinking what to do with such small quantity.  Hence thought of making it as watli dal.

Let us look at the recipe now:


Preparation time including soaking the chana dal is 30 minutes
cooking time : 15-20 minutes
serves: 1-2

Ingredients:

50 gms cluster beans
2 tbsp chana dal
a small piece of green chilli
a small piece of ginger,
1 garlic clove
1 tbsp grated coconut
few curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 tsp oil
2-3 drops of lime juice or a small piece of
a small piece of red broken chilli
salt
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.

Method;

Wash and soak the chana dal for 30 minutes.  wash and chop the beans.  boil them with salt and turmeric powder. Heat oil in kadai.   add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.  when it splutters, add the curry leaves, asafoetida, mix well.   add the chana dal mix and saute till the raw smell goes off.  add the cluster beans and saute again.  if need be add salt.  add half the coconut and mix well.  add two to three drops of lime juice and mix well.  garnish with remaining coconut and chopped coriander leaves. serve hot with chapati, rice.


Tips:  You can also use raw mango pieces instead of lime juice.  You can add little sugar also, if you wish.
