SHALLOT CHUTNEY

Onion chutney can be made very quickly.  I had some shallots (sambar onion).  We used to make this spicy chutney for idli, dosa during our childhood and had forgotten about it since long.  When I saw the same in the basket, I thought of making it for Idli today.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

15-20 shallots
3-4 red chilli broken into pieces
3 tbs coconut oil
a small piece of tamarind
2tbsp chopped coriander leaves (optional)
salt

Method:

Chop the shallots


heat oil in kadai
add the red chilli, fry and keep aside


add the shallots, tamarind and saute the same till soft


cool it.  mix all the ingredients, salt, little water and grind to a smooth paste.
serve with idli, dosa

If you wish you can add coriander leaves or  can make with only shallots.
