LASOONI KHAKRA

Khakra can be served with hot cup of tea/coffee or with some dips, topped with some stuffs and eaten as Chaat viz. masala papad.  It is a crispy, dry, flat bread made by Gujaratis, can be stored for a longer period in airtight containers.  It is handy while travelling.  I have seen a family carrying this stuff in a big aluminium dubba.  That aunty was telling me, we are travelling for the last one month and this stuff is still intact.  So next time, when you plan travelling a long tour, you can make some of it and carry.

It can be made plain, or flavoured with lasoon, methi, paani puri masala, etc. according to your choice.

Here I am sharing with you lasooni khakra

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat flour
11/2 " piece of ginger
6-7 garlic pods (can use more if you like)
2 green chilly
a pinch of turmeric powder
salt
1 tbsp nutralite butter or oil
oil for cooking

Method:

Cut the ginger
put in the mixer ginger, garlic, green chilli and make a smooth paste of it.
in a mixing bowl,  put the wheat flour, green chilli ginger, garlic paste, butter, salt and mix well.
now add water little by little and make a smooth dough out of it.
pinch out small portions of a medium lime and roll out very thin rotis.
heat tava and place them on it.
Press with a thick kitchen towel so that it does not puff up.
after cooking one side, cook the other side also by pressing similarly.
Your crispy, dry khakras as ready.  repeat the process for the remaining dough.
This can be stored in airtight containers after cooling.

serve with tea, dip or some stuff like masala papad

You can make methi khakra, pani puri flavoured, aloo khakra and any other flavour of your choice.
You can use chilly powder too.

If you have a roti maker, you can make the same in that too.  watch the Video on YouTube:

You can make paratha out of this lasooni-paratha   lasooni paratha and khakra
