SPICY SHAKARKANDI, SWEET POTAO SUBZI, RATALU SUBZI

Spicy shakarkandi is made out of sweet potato, ratalu, sarkaravalli kizhangu, madhura kizhangu it is known as.  Now Navrathri is only two days ahead, all must be searching for some upwas ka recipe.  This one is perfect for your taste bud during upwas. Also a sweet dish for you 

It is a simple recipe made out of sweet potato with some spice.

Let us have a look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional) I did not use 
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder or chilli flakes
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 green chillies chopped (adjust according to your spice level)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped.
  • Sentha namak, rock salt  as per taste.

Method:

  • wash, peel the sweet potato and cut into cubes. alternatively, pressure cook the same for one or two whistle, peel them and cut into cubes.
  • heat ghee in kadai, add cumin seeds.
  • when it crackles add the green chilly and saute for a second
  • add the sweet potato cubes and saute for two minutes
  • sprinkle some water, add salt, mix and cover it with a plate which can hold some water.
  • cook them till it is soft, stir in between.
  • now add the red chilli powder
  • mix well, add the coriander leaves and serve hot.
Note:  if you are boiling the potatoes in cooker, peel them and  cut into cubes.
  • heat ghee add cumin seeds, when it crackles add the green chilli
  • saute for a second and add the boiled sweet potatoes, red chilli powder, salt and mix well.
  • add the chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
I did not add green chilli instead added black pepper powder.
