MISSI ROTI

Missi Roti, part of Rajasthani Thali was given by Manjula Kanted for IFC#3.  I am preparing one by one out of the same and posting it and linking the same to Manjulas blog. Missi roti is made up of wheat flour and besan with some onion and green chillies and very tasty item if served hot.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Missi Roti

Wheat flour - 1 cup
Besan - 1/2 cup
onion - 1 small ( chopped finely)
green chillies - 2-3 Nos
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp ( chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chiili powder - 1 tsp
oil - 1 tbsp
Carom seeds - 1/4 tsp
a generous pinch of hing (original recipe did not have this, i added)
Water to make dough
Ghee to roast
salt to taste

Method

In a bowl mix all the ingredients, except water and ghee.  Add water little by little and form a soft dough.  Rest the  dough for 10 minutes.   It will become little loose.  Divide the dough in to equal parts and roll them with rolling pin, dust some extra plain flour while rolling if needed.  Heat a tawa and cook this rolled roti first one side and after few seconds, flip it  to cook the other side .
Spread some ghee on the roti while cooking .
Serve them hot with any sabzi or raita.

Thanks Manju for this lovely recipe.
