APPLE CHUTNEY

Chutneys can be served with dosa, idli, upma etc.  I try various kinds of chutney  with vegetables, fruits which are easy to make and readily available at home.  Today I made Apple chutney to serve with dosa.  It was very delicious.  You can make this chutney with very few ingredients which are always available at home.

If you have grated coconut stored in the fridge, then you can make any kind of chutney at home very easily.


Let us look at the recipe now:


Time taken: 10 minutes
serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

2 Apples
2 - 3 tbsp grated coconut
2 - 3 tbsp chopped green coriander leaves
1 tsp pottu kadalai (dalia)
a small piece of tamarind
3- 4 green chilli
a small piece of ginger
salt
2 tsp oil

Tempering:

1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urid dal
1 broken chilli
few curry leaves

Method:

1.  Cut the apples into small cubes.
2.  Heat oil in kadai, saute the apples in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes, allow to cool.
3.  In mixer, put the coconut, apples, ginger, green chilli, coriander leaves, tamarind, dalia and grind
4.  Add salt, mix
5.  temper with the ingredients mentioned under tempering.

How to serve:

Serve with idli, dosa, upma.
