AJWAIN PATHA THOKKU

Pickles are my favourtie.  Recently I  made pickles with vazhathandu, black grapes and have posted already.  Today I tried the ajwain patha drink and the thokku.

Since the patha is edible, having medicinal values, I tired the thokku.  It is similar to our normal thokku nothing special about it and easy to make.  So let us look at the recipe now:

Total time taken:  30 minutes
Yield : 3 tbsp

Ingredients:

1 cup ajwain patha
1 onion chopped
5-6 garlic cloves
1" pc ginger
1 tbsp tamarind pulp
1 tsp red chilli powder
turmeric powder
salt
3 tbsp oil ( I used sesame seed oil)

tempering:

1 tsp mustard seeds
few curry leaves
a genrous pinch of hing powder

Method:

1.  Grind together the patha, onion, garlic, ginger.
2.  Heat oil in kadai, add the mustard seeds and curry leaves.
3.  When it is done, add the ground paste, salt, turmeric powder, tamarind pulp and saute the same till it starts leaving the sides of the kadai.
4.  Switch off gas.  Add the red chilli powder, mix well
5.  Allow to cool, your thokku is ready.

How to serve:

serve along with dosa, dal rice, curd rice, ven pongal etc.
