VADA TIKKI (LEFT OVER DAL VADA)

Tikkis are always the favourite dish of every one. WE make various kinds of tikkis but today i am going to present a tikki which is made out of the left over item.

Vada Tikki I tried with the left over dal vada.  I had made dal vada and few of them were left out.  I tried kuzhambu with it and also the tikki.  both the items were very tasty.  You do not have to waste the food made if you think and reuse the same in a different way, you end up making a different dish out of it. That is what I have done here i.e best out of left over.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Preparation time: 10 minutes
cooking time: 20 minutes
yield : 08 nos

Ingredients:

1 cup vada powder (I used around 5 small vadas.)
1 big onion chopped
2-3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 green chilli chopped
1 small piece of ginger chopped
1 tsp saunf
salt as required
1/4 cup rice flour
a generous pinch of hing powder
water as required.
oil for shallow frying.

Method:

In a kadai mix the vada powder, chopped onion, saunf, coriander leaves, rice flour, hing powder, ginger and green chilli.  If you need extra spice, you can add.  Since I do not want extra spice, I did not add it. Now add  water and make dough out of it.  check for salt and add if required.

after making the dough, divide into equal portions.  makes around 8 tikkis.   take out one portion of it, make a ball out of it and flatten the same on your palm.  heat non stick tava apply oil and place the tikkis drizzle oil and shallow fry them. your tikki is ready.

How to serve:

serve hot with sauce or any kind of chutney.
