BREAD CHIVDA

Bread chivda is very easy to make with bread, poha, sev etc.  A tasty and simple snack item to be served with a cup of tea/coffee.

It is similar to the preparation of poha chivda with the addition of  crispy bread in it.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Bread chivda

Ingredients:

4 bread loaves ( I used brown bread - 2 slices of bread and the sides of 6 bread)
1/2 cup  thick poha
1/4 cup peanuts
1/2 cup shev
1/4 cup dalia (chutney dal)
1 tbsp kishmish
salt, sugar as required
a pinchof nimbu phool (optional)
1 green chilli chopped
few curry leaves chopped
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp ghee
hing powder
little red chilli powder
turmeric powder

Method:

cut the bread into small cubes.  Heat a kadai, put the bread cubes and ghee in it, mix well and roast the same in low flame till crispy.   grind to a powder, salt, sugar and nimbu phool.

Place the poha in a microwave plate.  microwave the same at 100 power for one minute.  mix them well.  repeat the process four to five times or till the poha become crisp.

In another kadai, heat oil.  add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add the curry leaves, green chilli and saute them till crispy.  add the peanuts and fry them.  (or fry the peanut first before and keep.)  add the turmeric powder, hing powder, dalia saute for few seconds.  add the bread cubes, poha, mix well.  add the powdered sugar, salt, nimbu phool mix, kishmish, and  keep on stirring  till the poha turns into yellow colour.  add the chilli powder, sev, mix well and serve with tea/coffee.

You can also add sliced fried coconut. (kopra)
