Let us look at the recipe now:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup jackfruit seeds chopped into thin long pieces.
1 onion finely chopped
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
less than 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
a pinch of asafoetida
1 tbsp grated coconut
salt as per taste
few curry leaves
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 lime juice (optional)
Tempering:
1 tsp oil (preferably coconut oil)
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (opitonal)
1/2 tsp urid dal (optional)
1 onion thinly sliced
curry leaves.
Method:
Steam cook the seeds till it is soft. while it is cooking, grind together the onion, coconut, chilli powder, curry leaves, cumin seeds and keep aside. In a kadai, heat oil, add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves etc. when it is done, add the sliced onion and saute for two to three seconds. add the cooked seeds, turmeric powder, salt and saute well. add the ground masala, sugar in it and mix well. serve hot with rice, samabar or roti.
