Coconut chutney is an accompaniment for dosa, idli, ven pongal etc. It is made out of coconut with green chilly, chutney dal etc. The dosa and idli is incomplete with chutney. It is very simple and easy to make.
Let us look at the recipe now:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup coconut grated
1 green chilli (add more if you want spicy)
a small piece of ginger
1 tbsp dalia (chuntny dal)
salt
seasoning:
1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
few curry leaves
a pinch of asafoetida.
Method:
Grind all the ingredients with little water to a smooth paste or coarse paste as you like. Season with the ingredients mentioned. Serve with idli, dosa.
If you wish can add a small piece of tamarind also.
