Kairi means raw mango.
The dal made with raw mango is known as Kairi ki dal in Hindi and Ambechi dal Marathi.
It is a simple preparation of dal with the addition of raw mango pieces
in it.
I had one small raw mango with me so thought of making the
dal with it. It tastes good with phulka
and rice.
Since the season is on, you can try this recipe definitely
and enjoy. I am giving my choice of
ingredients and masalas and you can according to your taste bud.

Ingredients:

Method:
1. Wash and pressure cook the dal with 1 cup of water.
2. Peel the shallots and cut into small pieces or chop the onion.
3. In a kadai, heat 2 tsp oil. Add the garlic, curry leaves, asafetida. When it is done, add shallots, green chilli and sauté till translucent.
4. Add the chopped mango pieces, salt, turmeric powder and sauté till the mangoes are bit soft.
5. Add the dal, required amount of water as per the required consistency of the dal.
6. Temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chilli powder, broken red chilli.
7. Finally add the garam masala and switch off gas.
8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
How to serve:
Serve hot with rice, phulka.
