BAMBOO RICE KHEER, MULA ARI PAYASAM

Today is the beginning of the year four teen I mean two thousand fourteen.  May God Bless the Universe with peace and harmony.  Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu.  Thought of making sweet dish along with Poori and Choley today.  The bamboo rice which I got it specially from Kerala for making dishes out of it is lying in the store room for the past three months only I could make it today.  Though the Payasam or Kheer is made for the first time by me, it turned out very well and liked by everyone.  The bamboo  rice looks like brown rice, very small like the surti kolam or wada kolam rice.  It is quite healthy and Controls sugar, Cholesterol and Blood pressure.  Also controls, joint pain, back pan and rheumatic pain.  Good for night blindness, overcoming vitamin deficiency on pregnancy as mentioned in the pack.

ATTE KA SHEERA, WHEAT FLOUR SHEERA

IFC challange # 3 hosted by Manjula Kanted has selected Marwari cuisine.  The recipes were either a platter of kachori or halva or a combination of one kachori and one halva or the Rajasthani Thali.  Since the Marwari cuisines are of bit spicy, I did not dare to prepare the same as we do not eat very spicy items.  However, will be trying one by one later as my friend is a Marwari and  can share with her.

Thanks Manjula  for the lovely recipes.

MALAI PEDA

Happy Dassera to all the viewers of my blog.

Today is Dassera and I wanted to make some sweets other than the normal payasam or kheer.  Few years back I had made this peda and faintly remembered how to make it.  It is made with milk, sugar  and corn flour,  and the preparation is somewhat similar to Pal theratipal. paal-theratipal-palgova.html.  the only difference is corn flour is used and continuously stirred in malai peda.

Anyway, sweets in any form either it is peda or theratipal, everyone loves it.

Sheera is made out of suji/rava with milk and sugar.  It is a very good dish  for breakfast as well as evening snacks.   My daughter on every Thursday, she takes the same in the tiffin box and I happily make this being the day of Krishna and Sai Baba for Prasad too.   Normally, it is made for the Satyanarayana Pooja and we all love to eat the same with bananas and lots of dry fruits in it.
