POHA IDLI

Idli is the main South Indian breakfast dish prepared by all over the world now.  It is soft, tasty and even when you are sick, this can be served as it is steamed hence do no harm.

Varieties of Idlis are made, normal idli, kanjeevaram idli, tuvar dal idli, jowar idli, corn meal idli and the list is endless.

Here I made the Poha Idli which turned out super soft and could not believe it.   Hence I am sharing it with you all.  This can be prepared without much hassles.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

1 cup rice flour
1/4 cup poha, beaten rice
1/4 cup urid dal
less than 1/4 tsp methi seeds.
salt

Method:

Wash and soak the urid dal  and methi seeds for half an hour.  add one cup of water to the rice flour, mix well and keep aside.  wash the poha and soak with little water.  Grind the urid dal soft, add the poha and grind smoothly, add the rice flour and grind for a minute.  add salt, pulse it.  transfer to a container, mix with hand again. keep for fermentation.  Today, it took around 9 hours to ferment.

grease the idli mould, pour the batter, steam cook the same for 7-10 minutes.  Your super soft Poha Idli is ready to serve with sambar, chutney, milagaipodi etc.
