TINAI, KAPPA KOZHUKKATTAI

Tinai, kappa pidi kozhukkattai I made it today and had with rasam.  You can also serve it with sambar, chutney,  morukootan etc.

Without much narration about the millets, as everyone knows that it is health friendly, let us look at the recipe now.  The method of preparation is like the normal upma kozhukkatai replacing the rice rava with tinai rava with addition of Kappa.






Preparation time:30 minutes 
Cooking time: 30-40 minutes
serves: 3

Ingredients:

1 cup tinai rava
1 fistful of tuvar dal
1/2 cup maracheeni grated
few curry leaves
salt
asafoetida
4 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urid dal
2 green chilli

Method:

soak the tuvar dal for 30 minutes. drain water,crush the same with green chilli and keep aside.  wash the tinai rava and keep aside.  Heat kadai, add oil.  add the mustard seeds, urid dal, curry leaves. when it is done, add asafoetida, 3 cups of water, the crushed tuval dal, salt and bring to boil.   add the rava, stir well, cove and cook till the water is absorbed fully.

allow to cool.   add the grated kappa, mix well.  when u are able to bear the heat, pinch out a sizeable portion and make round or oval shape of kozhukkatai.  Heat water in kadai, place the kozhukkatai in the idli mould and steam the same for 10 minutes.

How to serve:

serve it with chutney, sambar, rasam, morukootan etc.
