PAPPADA VADA ll PAPAD VADA

Pappada vada is a snack item made in Kerala.  Actually, if you tell the Papad makers, they will make separate papad for this. In case you don't get that, you can use the normal papad for making this snack item. 
 
 In any of the small hotels and thattu kada (street shops), you will get this item to taste.  Papad is dipped in the rice flour batter and fried, it is a simple and easy dish, provided you have papad at home.





Let us look at the recipe now:

Preparation time: 10 minutes.
Cooking time: 30- 45 minutes
yield: 10-12 

Ingredients:

1 Cup rice flour
10-12 Kerala papad
1 Tsp red chilli powder (adjust spice according to your taste)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp black sesame seeds
a pinch of turmeric powder
a generous pinch of asfoetida (optional)
salt as per taste

Method:

Mix the rice flour, chilli powder, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, salt.  Add water little by little and make the bajia batter.  Heat oil in kadai, dip the papad in batter and fry them till the bubbling sounds stops or till they are crisp.  
 
serve hot with tea or coffee.
