Lauki, dudhi or bottlegourd it is called is very easily digestable vegetable. lauki juice with lime helps in curing urinary tract infections. It also helps in control the diabetic, body temperature, weight, inflammation in the liver and kindney. In short it has got medicinal values.
Parathas made out of this vegetable is very tasty. You can grate the lauki and make the parathas. Here I have used the fibrous residue of the lauki after extracting the juice. It is a BEST OUT OF WASTE RECIPE at the same time healthy too.
Now let us have a look at the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup residue of the lauki ( i used 1/2 lauki i.e. 250 gms approx to make the juice)
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
1/4 tsp each ginger, garlic and green chilli paste (optional)
1/4 tsp chaat masala
a generous pinch of dry mango powder (amchur powder)
a generous pinch of ajwain
1/2 tsp white sesame seeds. (optional)
salt to taste
oil for making parathas
white butter to top, pickle or curd and sugar to serve along with it.
Method:
Mix the lauki residue, flour, coriander leaves, masalas and make a smooth dough out of it. Since lauki is having enough water content, do not add water at the initial stage. If required only, sprinkle little water while making the dough. divide into four equal parts. roll out the parathas. sprinkle some sesame seeds while rolling. Heat a tava and cook in medium heat till both the sides are having brown/black spots and cooked properly by applying oil. Serve hot with a blob of white butter, pickle of your choice or curd and sugar
