BITTER GOURD CHUTNEY POWDER II KARELA CHUTNEY POWDER II KAIPAKKA CHUTNEY POWDER

I am very fond of Bitter gourd and made various dishes with it.  Here is another dish which is a chutney powder which goes well with dal rice, curd rice, dosa, idli etc. I personally like it.  If you are bitter gourd lover, you can try this definitely. 

Easy to make and healthy to eat.

Let us look at the recipe now:


Ingredients:

1 Bitter gourd
Oil
2 Tsp Coriander seeds
1 Tbs Chana dal
1 Tbs Urid dal
2 Tbsp Dessicated Coconut
Few Curry Leaves
Red Chilli Powder
Black Pepper Powder
Asafoetida
Salt 
Small piece of tamarind.
(A piece of jaggery can be added if you wish)



Method:

Step 1

Finely grate the bitter gourd after washing, wiping.  Add salt, mix well and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 2

Heat oil and fry  the coriander seeds, remove to a plate.  Then add the chana dal, fry add urid dal, fry, add the curry leaves, dessicated coconut and fry till is is brown. ( See the video for updating yourself. ) Then add the black pepper powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida, mix well and transfer to the mixer pot. Cool.

Step 3

Squeeze out the excess water from the bitter gourd.  Heat oil in kadai.  Add the tamarind and fry.  Add the grated bitter gourd and fry till brown.  Cool.

Step 4

Grind the dal, coriander mix to a coarse powder.  Then add the bitter gourd and pulse it for a minute.  Do not make the powder very fine.


NOTE:You can add roasted sesame seeds while adding the bitter gourd

How to serve:

Serve along with rice, idli, dosa, upma etc.
