Pepper Cumin Idli is easy to make if you have idli batter at home for a change. You can either serve it along with sambhar and chutney or
rasam. I preferred to have it with rasam of course, it is the choice of
individuals.
It is not similar to kanjeevaram idli since more ingredients are added in kanjeevaram idli than the pepper cumin idli.
Preparation
for the same is like the normal idli batter. Just before preparing the
idli, add the crushed cumin, pepper, hing powder,ginger powder and
curry leaves and then make the idlis.
Now let us look at the recipe:
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Serves: 2
Ingredients
1 cup idli batter1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp black pepper corns
1/4 tsp ginger powder (sunth)
1 to 2 sprigs of curry leaves dried
1 tbsp ghee
generous pinch of asafoetida
Method
Step 1
Put the black pepper corns, cumin seeds and curry leaves in mixer and crush them.Step 2
Heat ghee, put the above mixture in ghee. When it sizzles, add this to the idli batter. Add the ginger (sunth) powder and asafoetida. Mix well.Step 3
Grease the idli mould, pour the batter in the idli plate and steam cook for 10-15 minutes.Your pepper cumin idli is ready.
How to serve:
Serve hot with sambhar, rasam or chutney.Note:
- Pepper corns if you want can add little more according to your requirement.
- Preferably serve hot
- I prefer to have the kozhukkattai, idli, dosa with rasam too.
