PAPAYA PARATHA

When my children refuse to eat the vegetables, I always use them in making parathas.  Papaya is one of the vegetable and fruit they do not eat.  Hence I made this paratha today and was quite tasty. 

Papaya has got many medicinal values.  Papayas offer not only the luscious taste and sunlit color of the tropics, but are rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium, copper, and magnesium; and fiber. Together, these nutrients promote the health of the cardiovascular system and also provide protection against colon cancer. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme, papain, which is used like bromelain, a similar enzyme found in pineapple,  to treat sports injuries, other causes of trauma, and allergies.  Video will be uploaded soon.

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup grated raw papaya (packed)
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp salt
2 tsp oil
ghee for cooking paratha
flour for dusting

Masala

1/4 tsp kalonji
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp saunf powder
1/2 tsp pav bhaji masala
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp ginger, garlic and green chilli paste

Method:

1.  In a mixing bowl, mix the papaya, masalas well.  add salt and mix well. 
2.  Add the wheat flour, mix well.
3.  Add the milk and prepare the dough.
4.  Divide the same into 4 equal balls.
5.  Take out one ball of dough, press it with your hand slightly, dust the flour, pat the same with your palm.
6.  Roll out paratha.
7.  Heat tava, put the partha on it and cook both the sides till brown spots appears.
8.  Drizzle ghee genrously . Your papaya paratha is ready to serve.

How to serve:

Serve hot with any kind of curry, pickl, sauce, curd and sugar.
