ADA MAVU DHOKLA

Ada mavu is made out of rice, tuvar dal, chana dal and little bit of urid dal, green chilli, red chilli etc.  I do not use any fermented batter except for Idli and dosa.  Ada mavu I make fresh and make the adai. Since I had left over Mavu, I decided to make dhokla out of it and it came out very well.

Let us look at the recipe now:

Ingredients:

1 cup ada mavau
1 tsp eno
1 tsp white til
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp oil
few curry leaves


Optional items:

2-3 tbs grated coconut
2 tbs grated carrot
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Red chilli powder, if you want more spicy or you can sprinkle the same on top of it.

Method:

Boil water in a vessel.  grease a plate.  in a bowl put the ada mavu (batter).  add eno mix well.  when it starts rising, transfer it in the plate and keep it for steaming for about 10-15 minutes.
take out allow to cool.

Heat oil in a kadai.  add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, white til.  when it is done, spread it on the dhokla.  spread grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves.  cut and serve with chutney.

Note:

If you are using grated carrot, red chilli powder add it in the batter before adding the eno.
