Adai is a breakast item made in South Indian House hold. This is made with Rice and lentils with red and green chilli. Today I made the same with Rava/Semolina/Suji and came out very tasty.
Since we can add vegetable of your choice in this like cabbage, carrot, capiscum, methi leaves, Muringa leaves etc. in this, it is quite healthy too.
Let us look at the recipe now:
Preparation time: 70 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 2-3
Ingredients:
1 Cup Rava
1/4 cup Tuvar dal
1/4 cup Chana dal
1 Onion chopped
1 Cup chopped methi leaves or grated cabbage, carrot, capsicum, beetroot etc.
4 tbsp Curd
A small piece of ginger
2-3 Red chilli
1 Green chilli
1 Sprig of curry leaves
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper Corns
Salt as required
Oil (gingely oil preferred) as per your choice
Mehod:
Step 1
Wash and soak the dals in water for one hour along with the red chilli. Add curd in the rava mix well. Add 1/4 cup water, mix well and keep aside for 30 minutes

Grind the dal along with red chilli, green chilli, ginger, black pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves coarsely and mix with rava. Mix the vegetables or the methi or muringa leaves, onion, salt, asafoetida in it and mix well. Add water to bring to a semi solid consistency.
Step 3
Heat a tava, apply oil. Take out a handful of batter and put on the tava and spread with your fingers. Make 3-4 holes on the adai. Put oil in the holes as well as from sides and cook both the sides till golden brown. Your adai is ready.
How to serve:
Serve with jaggery, white butter, chutney, pickle and molagapodi etc.
